We are sailing! As we plow through the water at 18 knots our home sways back and forth, back and forth. As a swift elevator seems to pull you down as it accelerates upwards only to let you float slightly as it the top of your assent before the doors open, so does the chair that I am now sitting. Twelve hours into it, I am beginning to get used to it. Earlier I was a little tired from it and laid down in my bed to take a brief siesta. I was surprised to find that even my bed sways to the rhythm of the waves. It makes complete sense, but I am just used to my bed being a place where everything stops when I turn out the lights, crawl under the soft covers, and sink my head into the pillow. When we walk in groups down the halls, we move to the left and right in unison like a school of fish. It is quite comical.

I waved goodbye to the coast of England today as we sailed out into the open waters.. Tomorrow we arrive in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. I will be close to the province of Zeeland, the motherland! I look forward to walking the streets. I expect the culture to be foreign, yet familiar. Krijin tells me that there are lots of tulips there.
I am well. I am tired on the inside, but have been able to have some good conversations with friends here, and will receive my day off tomorrow as a gift. Goodnight.

Scott, You'll be surprised that the next time you are on land, it will feel like you are swaying as if you were on the ship! You'll get so used to the movement, that you won't feel it while sailing, but will on land! Keep us posted on on the wonders that you are seeing. Love you and miss you. Aunt Barb

Scottie pottie!
Everybody needs a little lovin' on his/her blog to know that people are reading it. I always smile as I read your postings because I can almost hear you reading it out loud to me as I read them! I do so enjoy that. Thanks for doing such a faithful job with it, too!
Who knows when you'll be able to post again, since you might be en route to A-freakin-frica. I'm so excited for you! A bit disappointed that I won't be able to see you during either one of my two trips to Michigan this month, but I totally understand.
Keep up those random stories about the English and sailing culture! They're always fun to imagine you with too. You're in my prayers, buddy. Enjoy the journey.
