The Anastasis departed six days ago. The elegant vessel is on her final voyage to a scrap yard in India. She was used for roughly thirty years as a hospital ship. It was hard for a lot of people to see the vessel depart. More than this, it was hard to see forty Mercyshippers depart with her.
There have been so many goodbyes. They come with the territory, but are still hard. A few good friends left with the Anastasis. My fellow gallymate Geathe left for England this week while my roommate Ryan returned to Florida. This ship continues to be filled with the most amazing people, but the turnover is tricky. This is an in between world. It is not a long term community for most, but yet it is intense because we live, eat, sleep, work, worship, explore, and laugh together. It is not Western yet it isn’t Liberia on board either. It is a unique, delightful place where they collide together, like the different spices that blend together in my mug with hot water for a delicious tea.

Dear Scott,
I want you to know how happy we all were to hear that you are well and safe!!! What a bunch of worry warts you have for family...just shows you how much we love you.
Your trip just seems to get more and more interesting! I watch carefully for your postings.
You are always in our thoughts.
Much love,
Aunt Mary
Hi Scott!
I wss just thinking of calling your mom to see if she had heard from you when you posted! I'm glad to hear everything is going so well--what adventures you are having! I had a friend over today to swim and she has a son going in 5th grade who also swam with us. He reminded me a little of you and Andy at that age and I told my friend about the hose/air compressor caper--she seemed a little alarmed!
There's a puppy living in your old house next door! A Jack Russell Terrier. He's cute, but really small. I think this is the first time we've ever had a dog next door. I warned Jeff to keep Bolt on a leash when he comes over; I'm afraid if he stepped on that puppy he'd be a goner!
Have fun and stay safe!
Bonnie
Hi Scott-it's so good to have you back blogging-is that a word? I'm always checking to see if you have new information on. I'm sure it was a sad day to see the old ship leave port. Sunday we're going to Grandma and Grandpa's for the day. The Cherries are ripe! It's time for me to make my famous sweet cherry pie. That's always a hit at work. Love you and miss you. Aunt Barb
